Confined Space Entry

Students will be able to:

  • Define Permit-Required Confined Space
  • Identify the three major atmospheric hazards and the concentration that is safe for entry
  • Identify the order in which atmospheric hazards must be tested
  • Discuss signs and symptoms that might be associated with exposure to atmospheric hazards
  • Discuss the physical hazards associated with confined spaces
  • Discuss the information contained on permits
  • Identify several methods that can be used to control atmospheric hazards
  • Identify four roles personnel may perform when entering confined spaces
  • Describe the role of an entrant, attendant, rescuer, and supervisor

In addition to presentation of the course material, the following must be done to fulfill the regulatory requirements:

  • Review the permit used by the company
  • Identify the confined spaces found in the workplace
  • Present the hazards specifically associated with the confined spaces found in the workplace
  • Demonstrate the use of specialized PPE and rescue equipment
