This course will cover the following topics:

• Discuss the differences between the operating characteristics of forklifts and automobiles
• Identify the items that should be included in a forklift inspection
• Describe how to read a forklift load chart
• Discuss safe operating techniques for lifting and lowering loads
• Discuss safe operating techniques for traveling with a load

In addition to presentation of the course material, the following must be done to fulfill the regulatory requirements:

• Review the safe operating characteristics of each model of forklift the worker is expected to use
• Conduct hands-on training with the forklift the worker is expected to use
